The new Lord Mayor
On Monday 30 September, Fiona Woolf, was officially elected as the next Lord Mayor of the City of London, becoming only the second female to be elected in 824 years.
Fiona Woolf is a partner at CMS Cameron McKenna specialising in electricity reforms and infrastructure projects
Jim Knight, Partner at Harmans, has been invited to take part in the Lord Mayor’s Show on Saturday 9 November 2013. He will be in the procession with his wife Janet and granddaughter Ella – they will form part of an 83-strong CMS “River of Power” team which will be the fourth entry in the Lord Mayors parade.
Jim is a CMS Alumni who has worked closely with CMS as a specialist Costs Consultant over the past three decades.
‘River of Power’ was chosen as the theme for the procession as a tribute to the Thames and also to the energy sector, which is Fiona Woolf’s particular area of expertise. The River of Power will take the form of a human chain – rather than a motorised float – and there are a number of CMS people and children from local schools involved in bringing it to life.
The CMS River of Power will represent sustainability, clean energy and diversity which are the themes that Fiona has been championing for many years.
Robin Guiver is the Rivers Movement Director. Robin has worked on the theatre production of Warhorse and assisted Danny Boyle on the Olympic Opening Ceremony. He helped with the choreography and brought the River of Power to life.
There will also be a Hydro-Power Power Serpent, Spinning Whirling Dancers, Magic of Water Dancers, Giant Puppets and Puppet Guards to look out for.
The CMS team will be performing in front of a captive TV audience of three million people on BBC1 and 500,000 people spectating so do look out for Jim and his family!
