London Legal Walk – 17 June 2019

Once again, Harmans fielded a team of walkers for the annual tradition that is the London Legal Walk. Partners Gary Knight, Steve Jones, Mathew Knight and James Scott were joined by Marketing Manager Vikki Knight and two keen guest walkers, Faye Kitchener and Rachel McGregor. There was a record breaking turnout of more than 15,000 walkers from 880 teams.

Organised by the London Legal Support Trust, the charity walk raises funds for free legal charities and pro bono agencies across London and the south east. The London Legal Support Trust do a brilliant job of organising the event even down to recruiting the most encouraging and cheeriest stewards ever!

Upon our arrival at a sunny Chancery Lane we were pleased to see the familiar yellow balloon arch, the obligatory policeman on stilts keeping the crowd in order as well as a very tempting array of food and drink stalls.

There were two routes to choose from – the usual Park route or the alternative River route. After 6 years of the Park route Team Harmans decided to mix things up a bit and try the River route. It made a nice change to take in some different sites, although the amount of scaffolding did slightly ruin the view at times, we’re looking at you Big Ben! London is definitely under construction right now although the masses of tourists on the South Bank didn’t seem to mind too much!

Fuelled by the thought of liquid refreshment (not to mention The Cheese Truck) we made it to the finish line in around about the 1hr and 45 minute mark.  You could either use your drinks token in The Law Society or The Knight’s Templar or donate it back to the LLST and feel even more virtuous!

The London Legal Walk grows in strength and popularity each year which is welcome news for those dedicated people who maintain access to justice in the capital. The 2019 walk has already raised more than £750,000 and with funds still coming in looks set to top 2018’s total of £830,000 – a remarkable achievement.

It’s an excellent way to raise money for a very worthy cause and you get to take in some of London’s landmarks along the way. We hope to see you there next year.

Our sponsorship page remains open so there’s still time to support this great cause.
