Legal Aid cuts affecting divorce courts

Figures obtained from the MoJ under a Freedom of Information request have shown the number of couples inquiring about mediation has halved since the legal aid cuts came into force in April. The number of couples formally entering into the process is down by a third. It has been accompanied by an increase in the numbers of people applying to courts, often without the help of a lawyer.
